An Easy
Sell: The Creation of National Salesperson's Day
Appeared
in the Dallas Morning News, February 25, 2001
Friday is the inaugural National Salesperson' Day, and creator and
Dallas sales consultant Maura Schreier-Fleming says the recognition is
long overdue.
"I am passionate about selling, and I think that people who are in
sales and love it think that it's the greatest job in the world, " she
said. "For many people, thought, there is the negative stereotype of what
a salesperson does. We're the Rodney Dangerfields of business, and
it's time that we get some recognition and some appreciation."
Ms. Schreier-Fleming, president of the consulting firm
Best@Selling, said customers should celebrate National Salesperson's Day
by taking a salesperson ou tot lunch, answering the phone when a
salesperson calls and buying something from a salesperson.
"The salesperson, to celebrate, I think needs to celebrate their
customer," she said. Because without the customers, we would have nothing
to do."
